India is an agriculture-based country, and while striving for technological progress, we cannot afford to neglect farming. For the modern individual’s physical, mental, social, and environmental well-being, the protection and development of cows are essential. Cows hold immense religious and social significance for Indians. Protecting these sacred animals, which contribute to our livelihoods, is a shared responsibility.
revered Shreemad Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shree Shrimad Gangadharendra Saraswati Mahaswamiji of the Shree Sonda Swarnavalli Mahasamsthanam has initiated several socially-driven and impactful activities. Through various affiliated organizations, he has worked tirelessly for social upliftment and reform. As part of these efforts, Sri Swamiji has established an organization named Shri Govardhan [R] Goshala dedicated to cow protection and related initiatives.
Additionally, Shri Govardhan [R] Goshala actively contributes to rural development. By maintaining over 100 cows, it has become a source of daily livelihood for the people of Karadolli village. The Goshala provides employment opportunities for laborers who work tirelessly on the land and in cow-related activities. This initiative not only supports the local economy but also fosters self-reliance and empowerment among rural communities.
This initiative is based on an 11-acre plot purchased by the Math in the village of Karadolli, which falls under the Maddur Panchayat limits. The site is located 1.5 km to the left of Karadolli bus stop on the Yellapur-Mundgod route, around 12 km from Yellapur. Under the spiritual guidance of Sri Swamiji, who serves as the honorary president, this mission for cow welfare is progressing steadily.
In accordance with the Mahasamsthanam’s vision, the service of cows is carried out as both a spiritual practice and a social responsibility. Individuals can contribute to this noble cause through physical, mental, or financial support, thus becoming a part of this meaningful endeavor for the betterment of both this life and the hereafter.
